The first visit of the General Director of Center Hospital of the National Center for Global Health and Medicine, Japan to Bach Mai Hospital since receiving his new position

On the afternoon of June 25, 2019, Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen Quoc Anh, General Director, other members of the Board of Directors and representatives of the departments of Bach Mai Hospital (BMH) warmly welcomed Dr. SUGIYAMA Haruhito, the new General Director of the Central Hospital, is the head of the delegation of Directors of Colorectal surgery, Upper Gastrointestinal surgery and Gen Thoracic surgery from the National Center for Global Health and Medicine, Japan (NCGM), visiting and working at BMH. This is Dr. SUGIYAMA Haruhito’s first visit to BMH since receiving his new position in April 2019.
The collaboration between BMH and NCGM had started for many years. The both sides have been implementing many effective activities in training, technology transfer and scientific research. BMH is the comprehensive general hospital in the North of Vietnam, focusing on Internal Medicine. In recent years, according to the hospital's development strategy, BMH has focused on developing surgical specialty. From an initial general surgery department, the departments of Neurosurgery, Spinal-Trauma and Orthopedic surgery and Thoracic-Vascular surgery were established and strongly developed.
This visit is a good opportunity to discuss and expand the collaboration between BMH and NCGM in surgical field. The expert team introduced to the hospital the activities of the Project: “Perioperative management for some major hospitals in Vietnam in the future”. In addition, the delegation spent time visiting some departments of the hospital. Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen Quoc Anh thanked Dr. SUGIYAMA Haruhito and expects the sustainable cooperation between BMH and NCGM will develop more, contributing to the quality improvement of medical services in Vietnam.
